The Holbrook Dance Festival was held over the October long weekend (29 Sept - 2 Oct 2000) in Holbrrok, NSW. Organised by Colin Moore-Towns ( ctowns@ozemail.com.au), it aimed to present and perform traditional folk dances for the enjoyment of all; to share the joy and knowledge of dancing to promote physical and mental health, and community spirit. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun.
The theme of the main Sat evening Ball was "Gone With the Wind" (c 1850's). As you can see in the photos below, firstly of the hall as a whole, and then of several groups, there were some wonderful costumes. nb. select any thumbnail for the full image.
In the following photos are: Lawrie & Heather; Heather, Phillipa and Vicki in 1850's period costume; and Paul and Laura in Regency costume:
As well as the ball and lots of workshops, there were a number of dance displays. On the Sat there were several displays outside the Bakery, including one by the "Heaths", a Scottish Country dance group from Sydney, with a twist! On the Sun were a number of displays at the retirement villiage, including one by Colin's group.
